Opening of the “Girls for a Green Future” workshop in cooperation with UNICEF and in the presence of the President of the Southern Technical University
Under the sponsorship and in the presence of the President of the Southern Technical University, Professor Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, the Center for Continuing Education, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), held the workshop entitled “Girls for a Green Future: Leadership, Climate Action and Sustainability” with the participation of a number of female students and graduates with the aim of enhancing awareness of environmental challenges and developing girls’ skills in leadership and climate action.
The workshop addressed the concepts of climate change and its effects in Iraq, climate fragility, sustainability and their dimensions, and the role of girls in facing environmental challenges, in addition to leadership, communication, and environmental advocacy skills.
It also included interactive activities to analyze local environmental problems, design implementable initiatives, formulate advocacy messages, and present and discuss initiatives to enhance the role of girls as active partners in building a more sustainable future.
